About Ayushman Bharat Scheme Details
Summary:
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), also known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, is a scheme that aims to assist economically disadvantaged Indians who need healthcare.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this health insurance policy on September 23, 2018 to cover around 50 million Indian people, and it has already had a number of successes. According to reports, 18,059 hospitals have been accredited, over 4,406,461 lakh beneficiaries have been admitted, and over 10 crore e-cards have been distributed as of September 2019.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, formerly known as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana – National Health Protection Scheme, aims to make secondary and tertiary healthcare fully cashless. Beneficiaries of the PM Jan Arogya Yojana receive an e-card that can be used at any empanelled hospital, public or private, across the world. It allows you to walk into a hospital and receive care without having to pay any money.
Pre-hospitalization costs are covered for three days, and post-hospitalization expenses are covered for 15 days. Furthermore, almost 1,400 procedures are covered, along with all other costs such as OT expenditures. Overall, PMJAY and the e-card have coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family per year, assisting the economically vulnerable in gaining easy access to healthcare.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Rural and Urban People in PMJAY Health Cover Categories
Via a health insurance scheme with a cover of Rs. 5 lakh per household, the PMJAY scheme seeks to offer healthcare to 10 crore households, the majority of which are poor or have a lower middle income. There are 8 crore families in rural areas and 2.33 crore families in urban areas of the 10 crore families. This suggests that the scheme would seek to serve 50 crore person beneficiaries when broken down into smaller groups.
However, the programme provides a set of criteria that it uses to determine who is eligible for the health insurance coverage. While the list of PMJAY beneficiaries in rural areas is mainly based on shortage of land, low wages, and other deprivations, the urban list is based on profession.
PMJAY Rural:
According to the 71st round of the National Sample Survey Organization, 85.9% of rural households lack access to any kind of healthcare insurance or guarantee. Furthermore, 24% of rural households borrow money to access healthcare services. By offering yearly assistance of up to Rs. 5 lakh per household, PMJAY hopes to help this sector escape debt traps and access facilities. According to data from the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census, the scheme would benefit socially deprived households. Households who are registered in the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) will also be covered by the PM Jan Arogya Yojana.
In rural areas, the PMJAY health insurance is applicable to:
1) Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households; and
2) Those living in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe households.
3) Families with no male members between the ages of 16 and 59.
4) Beggars and people who depend on alms
5) Families with no members between the ages of 16 and 59.
6) Families with at least one mentally disabled participant but no capable parent
7) Households that are landless and rely on manual labour for a living
8) Indigenous groups that are still in their infancy
9) Bonded labourers who have been legally freed
10) Families that live in makeshift one-room homes with no proper walls or roof.
11) Scavenger hunter families
PMJAY Urban:
According to the 71st round of the National Sample Survey Organization, 82 percent of urban households lack access to healthcare benefits or guarantee. Furthermore, 18% of Indians in urban areas have borrowed money in one way or another to cover healthcare costs. Pradhan Mantri Pradhan Mantri Pradhan Mantri Prad Through offering support of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family, per year, the Jan Arogya Yojana assists these households in accessing healthcare facilities. According to the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census, the PMJAY would support urban workers’ families in the occupational categories listed. The PM Jan Arogya Yojana is also available to every family participating in the Rashtriya Swasthaya Bima Yojana.
Those that would benefit from the government-sponsored scheme in metropolitan areas include:
1. Chowkidars / washermen
2. Rag collectors
3. Mechanics, electricians, and service technicians
4. Domestic assistance
5. Cleaners, gardeners, and sweepers
6. artisan or handicraft workers who work from home, tailors
7. Cobblers, hawkers, and others who live on streets or pavements to provide services
8. Plumbers, masons, construction workers, porters, welders, painters, and security guards are among the occupations mentioned above.
9. People who work in the transportation industry, such as passengers, conductors, helpers, and cart or rickshaw pullers
10. Assistants, peons in small establishments, delivery boys, shopkeepers, and waiters are among the top ten jobs in the nation.

1. Owners of a two-, three-, or four-wheeler, as well as a motorised fishing boat
2. Those who own a piece of mechanised agricultural machinery
3. Those with Kisan credit cards with a credit limit of Rs.50000.
4. Those who work for the government

Ayushman Bharat Scheme Medical Packages and Hospitalization Process (PMJAY)
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya scheme has a Rs. 5 lakh insurance cover that can be used not only by people, but also by families in general. This lump sum is sufficient to fund medical and surgical procedures in 25 specialties, including cardiology, neurosurgery, oncology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, and others. Hospital and surgical costs, on the other hand, cannot be reimbursed at the same time.
If multiple surgeries are needed, the most expensive kit is charged for first, followed by a 50 percent waiver for the second and a 25% discount for the third. Unlike other health insurance programmes, the PMJAY scheme, which is part of the wider Ayushman Bharat Yojana umbrella scheme, has no waiting time for pre-existing diseases. If a beneficiary or a member of their family requires hospitalisation, they are not required to pay anything as long as they are admitted to a government or private hospital that has been empanelled.
A 60:40 cost-sharing arrangement between the Centre and the states allows for cashless care and hospitalisation. After being verified as a legitimate beneficiary, specially qualified Ayushman Mitras will issue you or a family member with a health card at a kiosk in a hospital for those who are ignorant of the PMJAY system.
With these information, you can take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Awas Yojana’s features or assist someone else in receiving the healthcare coverage value.

Ayushman Bharat yojana Benefits
The biggest benefit of getting a health care package is that you will get medical attention without having to worry about your savings being strained. Furthermore, since a large number of Indians end up borrowing money informally to pay medical bills, using PMJAY’s functionality helps to prevent falling into a debt trap. Under PMJAY, you can get care worth up to Rs. 5 lakh, but you can even purchase health insurance from Bajaj Finserv to get more coverage and incentives for yourself and your families.
How to apply PMJAY Scheme Online
There is no separate registration process for PMJAY under Ayushman Bharat. This is due to the fact that PMJAY covers all beneficiaries listed by the SECC 2011 as well as all who are already enrolled in the RSBY system. However, here’s how to see if you’re worthy to receive PMJAY benefits.
- Click on ‘Am I Qualified’ at https://www.pmjay.gov.in/.
- Tap on ‘Generate OTP’ after entering your mobile number and CAPTCHA code.
- Then check by name, HHD number, ration card number, or mobile number in your province.
- You should check whether your family is protected under PMJAY based on the search results.
Alternatively, you can contact any Empanelled Health Care Provider (EHCP) or call the Ayushman Bharat Yojana call centre at 14555 or 1800-111-565 to see if you are fit for PMJAY.
