The Most Streamed Movies and TV Shows This Week Must Watch

1. True Detective (Max)

This HBO anthology show, once a gem thanks to Matthew McConaughey in the first season, went downhill. The fourth season’s new star, Jodie Foster, has revived interest.

2. Killers of the Flower Moon (Apple TV+)

The film Killers of the Flower Moon received Oscar nominations. Now’s your chance to watch it “free” (if you pay for Apple TV+), which is probably the best place since the film is just under three hours.

3. The Holdovers (Peacock)

Director Alexander Payne and actor Paul Giamatti are always worth watching. They made Sideways. Pig Vomit returns as a 1970s prep school teacher spending the winter holidays with his least favorite student and the head cook.

4. Saltburn (Prime Video)

This decadent film by Emerald Fennell, the director of Promising Young Woman, follows a nebbishy college student who befriends a rich guy who takes him home to his family estate for a summer of debauchery and family drama.

5. Death and Other Details

This series follows Mandy Patinkin as “the world’s greatest detective” as he helps the sole suspect of a cruise liner locked-room murder mystery.

6. Society of the Snow (Netflix)

This terrifying tale of the survivors of the 1972 Andes plane crash into a glacier is Spain’s Oscar entry this year.

7. Reacher (Prime Video)

Former military police officer Jack Reacher is now a hulking drifter with combat skills. That helped him fight corruption in season one. Season two finds him searching for the killers of his former military police.

8. Fargo (FX on Hulu)

The fifth Fargo season is over. This time, the crazed sheriff Tilman (a terrifying Jon Hamm) tried to find his abused ex-wife (Juno Temple) after she fled him a decade ago to start over.

9. The Bear (FX on Hulu)

When Jeremy Allen White’s Golden Globe win and underwear ad debut in the same week, it makes people want to catch up on this story of a Chicago chef trying to make something great from his dead brother’s sandwich shop.

10. Self Reliance (Hulu)

The Lonely Island produced and Jake Johnson wrote and directed Self Reliance, which is meant to be funny. A romcom, too. And possibly a thriller. Definitely a commentary on reality TV getting too close to Squid Game. Johnson’s loner character can win a million dollars and live if he follows the one rule of a dark web show he’s recruited for: Never be alone.
